A song from the year you were born.
Wow. What a trip. At first, I considered just going with the song that was #1 the week I was born but decided against that because….well, because it’s kind of blah. Then I started thinking about some hokey stuff: “Candida” is a trip; “Ain’t No Mountain High Enough” is great. When I was in grad school, “Cecilia” was having a bit of a revival, so I considered that.
There’s more than a few songs I’d really like to choose, but ultimately I went with one that reflects what was going on in the world I was born into. We were slogging our way through Southeast Asia, fighting a war we really had no business fighting. Young men dying because our government couldn’t commit to fighting the war as it should be fought and not getting out because of the egos of our leaders.
What is it good for? Absolutely nothing.
